Whoopies Recipe - Baked Goods Recipes

2 c Flour

5 tb Cocoa

1 c Sugar

1 ts Baking powder

1 ts Baking soda

1 ts Salt

1/2 c Shortening

1 ts Vanilla

2 Egg yolks

1 c Milk

2 Egg whites

1/2 c Shortening

1 ts Vanilla

1/4 ts Salt

2 c Powdered sugar

Sift together flour,cocoa,bkg powder, bkg soda, sugar & salt. In a separate bowl Cream together 1/2 c shortening, 1 tsp vanilla and the egg yolks. add the first (dry) mixture to the second alternately with the cup of milk. A little dry then a little milk. Drop by teaspoonfulls on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 deg for 12 minutes. Filling: Beat the 2 egg whites at High speed mix together with 1/2 c shorteneing, 1 tsp vanilla , 1/4 tsp salt and the 2 cups of confectionary sugar. -----
